Whether you are affected by pattern baldness, scalp scarring or just patchy, thinning hair, Scalp Micropigmentation is an affordable, immediate and effective hair loss solution.
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) creates the appearance of a full head of hair by carefully and meticulously placing microdots of pigment amongst existing hair, replicating natural hair follicles.
When delivered by a skilled practitioner, SMP can restore receded hairlines, thicken remaining hair, camouflage hair transplant scars and create the look of close-cropped hair.
SMP can provide definition for full front, side and rear hairlines as well as restore a front hairline for full or partially bald heads. For those with a shaved head or no hair at all, the result is the look of a close shave or buzz cut style. For women the results are best when the hair has thinned in a ‘diffuse’ pattern but not lost entirely. How well we are able to hide your hair transplant scars depends on a number of factors and it is important to note that scar camouflage is a highly individual and detailed process. The age, colour, texture, position and shape of your scars all determine how we approach your treatment and the level of concealment we are likely to achieve for you. As a general rule, most clients can expect a reduction in baldness visibility from 70 to 90%. Scalp Micropigmentation is a very effective solution for the concealment of all alopecia symptoms, particularly among men who don’t mind shaving their remaining hair. Whether the symptoms are patchy hair loss (areata) or widespread balding (totalis), the treatment process can be adapted to suit the needs of the individual client.
How is Scalp Micropigmentation applied?
During the procedure, specialised equipment with pigment, designed specifically for Scalp Micropigmentation is used to meticulously apply microdots to your scalp to give the appearance of hair follicles.
Will this look natural?
Yes. The practitioner will work with you to design and blend a shade of pigment that is natural in appearance and blends with your remaining hair and skin tone.
Does the colour fade with time?
Yes, in Facial Secrets clinic we only use the medical-grade pigments, designed specifically for Scalp Micropigmentation. With the time and sun exposure the pigment can lighten and it may be necessary to have a touch-up treatment in aim to bring the appearance back to its optimal best. Following your procedure, it is important to take care of the treated area and we always recommend using a good quality sun block and a hat when necessary. This will help to ensure your SMP stays looking as it was originally intended and will help to protect your skin from the harmful UV rays.
Can you create a natural looking hairline?
Yes, we can. The practitioner will carry out a comprehensive consultation with you prior to the procedure to understand what is important to you and what you are hoping to achieve.Together with your clinician you can design and create a hairline that suits you as an individual. This is a very important part of the process and we always recommend a natural-looking hairline over a ‘fashionable’ style.
How long does a procedure take?
In most cases 2 to 3 sessions are required to achieve the desired look where the first two sessions are ‘building’ the density and the third session completes the ‘feathering’ and ‘definition’ aspect of the procedure.
We recommend 10-14 days intervals between sessions to allow for adequate healing of the skin.
Is there any form of guarantee?
Yes. We stand behind all our procedures with a 12-month satisfaction guarantee. If your procedure does not meet your expectations after the third session, then we will complete a fourth or even a fifth session absolutely free of charge.
What if I lose more hair in time?
One of the advantages of the Scalp Micropigmentation is that you can increase the coverage should you experience further hair loss or find it just needs to be a bit thicker in some areas. Sometimes people will get SMP to add density to thinning areas and then later decide to go for a complete all-over ‘buzz cut’ look. SMP is a very versatile treatment.
Does it hurt?
Some points on the scalp may be more sensitive than others. For example, you may feel the treatment more in the temple areas than the crown area. We do have a medical grade anaesthetic cream on hand if required.
The cream will numb the area being treated and most clients remark they feel little to no real discomfort during the entire procedure.
How much does it cost?
The cost will depend on the thinning/balding pattern, the size of the area to be covered and the presence of any scars. To get a quote call or send us an email firstname.lastname@example.org to book a free,
no-obligation consultation. Prices start from £300 for the simple single session procedure to £4000 for the complex whole head treatment.
